"We came home from vacation to find our a/c not working and temperature in the 90’s. Metro came out the day we called and determined the repair to the a/c would be more than ½ the cost of a new unit. With both the furnace and a/c over 20 years old, we decided to replace everything with energy efficient models. They provided several options and after comparing bids and looking at all of the credits and rebates available for energy efficient models, they had the best price and we spent less than the cost of the lower efficiency models. The service was timely, professional and everything was neat and clean when they were done. They are very customer focused."

Servicing and Repair

"After firing the big company I used for years, I found Art at Metro Heating and Cooling through the St. Louis Police Department interned boards. I like the personal treatment and responsiveness so they are now servicing 4 apartments I own, as well as my personal residence. I have been using them nearly 2 years now. They have not installed new equipment but are servicing and repairing several units. They bend over backwards to accommodate you and I feel that I can trust them. They do not overcharge. In fact, their service call is less than any of the other companies I called in the past."

Hmm, never heard of such a thing. I guess it could be possible. So we could give it the sniff test of pliisubality. A different burn cycle would mean either a variable aperture burner, or multiple sets of burners. That seems an unlikely way to design a furnace.Heat pump systems as I mentioned require an auxiliary system because they are relatively ineffective at changing temperature rapidly and with large gaps to make up may not even be able to raise the temperature fast enough for it to matter. Gas furnaces on the other hand, even small ones are quite effective.Because heat generation tends to be near 100% efficient, the only real reason to generate more heat from a gas furnace would be to warm things up faster. Faster heat-up I believe would just be faster however, not consume more gas because the temperature differential to make-up would still be the same.Not that the whole discussion really matters. I still think you'd get lower gas bills if you use set-back. You'd have to talk to an HVAC guy instead of me to get the truth of the matter though I suppose. Even if it is slightly less efficient, the reduced effort to keep the house at a lower temperature would probably make up for it.
